Summary/Description: The Letters of John, Hebrews, James, and Jude from the New Testament of the Bible in raised letters; brown marbled paper covers with thin leather on spine; remnant of paper label pasted to top of spine; text block stitched together, no spacers; font is all capital letters, with each character formed from interconnected dots; embossed on one side of page only with positive pages arranged front to front, and negative sides facing each other; top of each page headed with the page number, book name, and the number of the chapter and first verse.

History/Provenance: The Privilegierte Bibelanstalt was founded in Stuttgart Germany on September 11, 1812 by Carl Friedrich Adolf Steinkopf (1773-1859) and others. Now part of the German Bible Society (Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft), it is the oldest continuously operating Bible publishing house in Germany. The Privilegierte Bibelanstalt embossed the gospels in raised letters for blind readers in 1840 and had completed the entire Bible by 1863. The font was called "Stuttgarter perldruck."
