History/Provenance: Photograph was taken by the mother of Jan Carroll, APH contract administrator, whose relatives lived on State Street at the time that the factory building was built. According to the 1948 APH annual report, the addition, which attached to the original APH building, was begun in July 1947 and was "sufficiently near completion that the printng, binding, and tangible apparatus departments, formerly housed in a rented building in the center part of the city, could be moved to the new plant the first day of May 1948." The cost, including new equipment and installation of both old and new equipment, was approximately $275,000.
