Description: Rectangular nameplate from a Colt's Armory Printing Press, a hand-fed printing and embossing platen press, that was adapted by the American Printing House for the Blind for braille printing. On front: "Colt's Armory Printing Press, Designed and Constructed by John Thomson Press Co., New York, USA . . . Size 14 x 22, Style 5, No. 4508." Includes a list of U.S. patent dates from August 9, 1887 through July 7, 1903; maker's mark of press manufacturer is stamped at center left and center right. Reverse is blank. Four holes, one at each corner, for attaching to press.
