Description: (a) Cedar gavel, clear finish; symetrical turned head has hammer head shape with large round bead at cheeks flanked by two narrow beads, flanked by round faces of the gavel; turned handle glued into mortise in cheek of head, three beads turned at joint with head, handle is hollow, a separate bead wrapped with a printed tissue paper explanation of the gavel's source, signed by Col. E.A. Baker, is pressure-fitted into the handle; (bc) oak display box, lap jointed with a masonite bottom, slotted at top to hold removable (9.5 x 4.25") glass panel, two mahogany forms inside cradle the gavel; braille label on zinc plate on side reads, "This gavel was made and presented by Col. E.A. Baker Canadian Assoc. of Home Teachers".
