Description: Black and white photo is mounted on a white card. Photo shows a young man with short hair and a slight bearded who is wearing tinted eyeglasses and holding a cane in his right hand. He is wearing a knee-length coat, over a vest and trousers, and light-colored bow tie. His cheeks are tinted. Printed on the reverse, at center, is "Cartes de Visite, Six for $1.00. From H.C. Vansyckel, No. 532 N. Second Street, Philadelphia." Foxing on carte. Cartes de visite were popular during the Civil War era.
