Description: Sepia-toned albumen print is mounted on a white card with gilt trim. Photo shows an elderly man who appears to be blind in his right eye. He is seated, with his right elbow resting on a cloth-covered prop. He has a full-length beard, no mustache, and is dressed in a dark double-breasted vest, trousers, and long jacket with wide lapels. Printed at center on the reverse of the carte is "E. R. Childers, Photographer, Cor. Third and Green Streets, St. Louis, Mo., and Broadway, Columbia, Mo." Cartes de visite were popular during the Civil War era.
