Administrative History: The Boston Nursery for Blind Babies was established in 1901 in Massachusetts to provide a home for and early training of blind and visually impaired babies and preschoolers. First located in Roxbury, the Nursery relocated in 1910 to South Huntington Avenue in Boston. The agency expanded its programs to include children of a wider range of age and special needs and, in the 1950s, began offering diagnostic studies and residential treatments. In 1964, the name was changed to Boston Center for Blind Children.
