Scope & Content: Barbara McCarthy, director of the Library and Resource Center, Virginia Department for the Blind, in Richmond, has served as an Ex Officio Trustee (EOT) of the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) for over twenty-five years. She describes how she first learned about APH products and services, specifically recalling her use of APH's SAVI (Science Activities for the Visually Impaired) program in the 1980s, when she taught science. She also talks about her EOT experiences, including committees, and about service and product areas that APH should continue to focus on in the future, including reading materials for newly blinded adults.
