Printed reports document the school's management, building, and student activities. Trustees, staff, and students are listed. Financial receipts and disbursements are included. The 7th report includes "Education of the Blind," a paper by Superintendent Otis Patten about noted blind individuals and the development of schools for the blind. The 10th and 11th reports include embossed specimens of Boston line type. An engraving of the school appears in the 13th report; black-and-white photo illustrations in 1912 and some later reports. Administrative History: The Arkansas Institute for the Education of the Blind, located at Arkadelphia, was incorporated in 1859. It closed in 1863, during the Civil War, and reopened in 1867. The school relocated to Little Rock in September 1868. The name changed to the Arkansas School for the Blind in 1877.
