Administrative History: In 1955, the state of Arkansas transferred its vocational rehabilitation services for blind people from the Arkansas Department of Welfare to the Arkansas Rehabilitation Service (ARS), which at that time was under the Department of Education. In 1965, services for the blind were transferred from ARS to the state's newly established Division of Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, located in the state's offices in Little Rock.
