Administrative History: The Shreveport Association for the Blind was established in 1927 by the Lions Club to provide jobs and training for the blind. Located in Shreveport, Louisiana as a private, non-profit organization, it offered employment in broom and mop making and in commercial sewing. In 1970, the Shreveport Association for the Blind was fully accredited by the National Accreditation Commission; and, in 1980, the name would change to Louisiana Association for the Blind.
