Administrative History: The Aid Association for the Blind of the District of Columbia was organized in 1897, "to establish a non-sectarian home for the blind of the District of Columbia . . . and promote the education and industrial training of the blind, aid the needy dependent blind, and to help them to become self-supporting." It was incorporated in 1899.
