Description: Gold medal is an upside-down shield design. Front shows a lighted lamp at center. Along the edges of the medal, in raised letters, is "Lux Ex Tenebris." At bottom are the letters D, S, M in raised braille. Reverse is inscribed: "Presented by Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired at Nashville, Tennessee, June 27, 1984." Medal is attached to a gold bar pin inscribed "Dr. Natalie Barraga." Pin has two squeeze-tack fasteners on reverse.
