Description: Lou Harpenau turned to broadcasting in 1968 after several years in public relations. He worked in the WAVE television and radio news departments and was one of the last newscasters at WAVE when it went satellite in 1989 after being bought by Radio One. Lou’s first assignment as a reader at APH was the December 1970 National Geographic, and he is still reading today. He has recorded more than 800 books and several weekly and monthly periodicals, Newsweek® and Reader’s Digest® notably among them. Lou received the Alexander Scourby Award for nonfiction in 1996.
