Erika Picht Braillewriter

Mechanical Braille Writers

Description: The Model 500 was manufactured by the Robotron-Erika Typewriter Factory in Dresden, East Germany, beginning in 1979, based upon a Picht-inspired design originally made by Karl Neubert in Leipzig and later by the Mechanische Werkstatt fur Blindenhilfsmittel der DDR in Leipzig. Robotron, the largest East German computer and typewriter manufacturer, came out with redesigned Models E501-505 in 1990. Robotron went out of business shortly after German Reunification in 1990, but slightly altered models continued to be sold. Blista had it for sale as late as 1994.
